Phoenix FM’s Michelle Spencer welcomed the creative team behind Best Geezer, a feel-good Essex comedy. Writers Caroline Spencer and James Smith, along with cast members, shared insights into the film’s production and upcoming London premiere. By featuring local films, Phoenix FM continues to champion regional talent and storytelling.
We’re always supporting the local film industry and always delighted when filmmakers come in to talk about their current venture.
Best Geezer is a feelgood feature film comedy by Raya Films set in Essex, which should be hitting the cinemas later this year.
It follows the story of three would-be entrepreneurs who run a failing corporate video production business here in Essex. They decide to pull themselves out of financial strife by making a crime thriller – or geezer – movie.
The question is, will their film – produced with loose change, second-rate equipment and non-professional actors – be good enough? (Well loose change, second-rate equipment and non-professionals didn’t stop us starting a radio station …)
Michelle was joined in the studio were writers Caroline Spencer and James Smith and actors Andrea Sandell and Lutricia Norris. James is also the director and Caroline appears in the film and produces it too.
The team talked about how the film came about and shared stories about its writing and filming.
The London premiere takes place on Friday at the Courthouse Hotel in the West End – and you can keep an eye on rayafilms.com to find out when it’s going to be released.
