Phoenix FM continues to be a driving force in raising awareness of mental health issues within the community. In a recent feature, the station showcased various projects working towards the same goal—providing vital support and resources for those in need. By giving a voice to these initiatives, Phoenix FM helps break down stigmas, connect people with support networks, and foster a stronger, more compassionate community.
There’s a lot going on in our community which highlights mental health issues and how people can get support for them.
We’ve featured two such projects this week, on Jo Bailey’s afternoon Drive show. They’re very different, but they have similar aims.
Kirsty & Brittany from K&B Designs came in to talk about the mural they created for Thurrock & Brentwood Mind.
The artists are known for their hand-painted pieces and eye-catching designs and work on a variety of different surfaces from containers to walls.
They talked about their plans to create artwork for the community and brought in the message that it’s okay for people not to be 100 percent and it’s normal to feel down and lost at times.
Jane Bennett from Bennetts Funeral Directors also came in with Joss and Lottie to talk about the charity football tournament in aid of the Craig Tyler Trust and Andy’s Man Club.
Joss worked in construction for many years and was exposed to a “man up” mentality. He talked about how he wanted to do something positive to highlight the fact that it’s okay for men, to say that they are not okay.
The tournament takes place at the Brentwood Centre on July 15 and entry forms are available from eventbrite.com.
